Timmy Ho has recently completed the Harvard Pediatric Health Services Research Fellowship at the Institute for Healthcare Improvement and Boston Children’s Hospital. He is an attending neonatologist at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Department of Neonatology, and is an Instructor in Pediatrics at Harvard Medical School. Dr. Ho’s research interests focuses on using quality improvement and implementation science methodologies to improve the efficiency, workflow, and patient experience in healthcare delivery. Dr. Ho is the lead author of the recent publication from the “Choosing Wisely in Neonatology” research team, identifying clear opportunities to improve the overuse of antibiotics in the NICU. They report that the routine continuation of antibiotics beyond 48 hours for asymptomatic infants without evidence of bacterial infection as one of the “top five” targets for improvement in the Choosing Wisely Campaign. An innovator, Dr. Ho has both participated in and mentored hackathons sponsored by the groups at MIT and Harvard, developed a mobile application to improve resident workflow, and hopes to lead multidisciplinary teams to transform how health care workers care for patients.
